Frequently Asked Questions

The wild tracker is a mobile device app for iPhone and Android to log animal sightings. Then, organizations such as municipalities can signup on our website to immediately gain access to login and view the animal sightings near them.

Visualize the sightings on our map. View charts & graphs of the sightings and various animals that were spotted. Download Excel files and view the raw data or build your own map overlays with the coordinates.

Deer or bear sightings or any other wildlife that your community is interested in tracking or trying to learn about their population counts in your area. A municipality, or organization such as a fish & wildlife or game commission typically invites and promotes patrons in their community to download and use the Wild Tracker App so they can then benefit from the data collected while using it.

The Wild Tracker App is useful for trying to determine the density of various types of animals in geographic locations. For example, it can be useful by the Game Commission for determining the number of animals that are allowed to be harvested. It can be used for determining which areas to be more cautious when driving a vehicle. There are many scientific and biological reasons for tracking animals such as providing safety to both animals and humans.

Our apps are 100% free for patrons to download and log animal sightings. Organizations should signup on our site (TheWildTracker.com) and submit our Help & Support contact form for pricing on accessing the charting and mapping data.

When a user downloads our app, they can log up to 3 different animal sighting(s) per day. The user is prompted to gain access to either GPS or Cellular triangulation of their coordinates. They will choose the animal(s) seen, the number of animals spotted, and can even upload a photo taken of the animals and submit notes on the sighting.

How to get the most out of the Wild Tracker

  1. Enroll your organization by clicking the Enroll Organization link on our site.
  2. Begin promoting the App to patrons in your community so that they download it and help by logging where and when they see animals.
  3. Think about running a prize give-away or promotion such as who can log the most animals to help incentivize people.
  4. Then, your organization can login anytime to the website and view charts, maps, and even download spreadsheets containing the sighting data.
  5. Take the data! That's right, when you download the data, it will also contain the latitude and longitude coordinates so that you can even build your own map overlays if necessary.
